Most people arrive at a consultation having already picked a method from a photograph. Sometimes that is the right one. Often it is not, because the photograph shows the finished length and says nothing about the hair underneath it.
Nano ring, micro ring and tape-in extensions all add length and volume, and all three use natural Remy hair. Where they differ is in how each one holds on to your own hair, how much of it each join takes, and how they behave once you are washing, brushing and tying your hair up every day.

Start with the hair you already have
Every extension is attached to a section of your own hair, so your own hair does the carrying. Its thickness, its condition and how much of it there is at the root decide how much added weight it can hold comfortably.
Fine hair needs small, light joins that sit flat and hide easily. Thicker hair can carry more per join, which means fewer joins and a quicker fitting. Hair that has been through a lot of colour wants the gentlest method that will still hold.
How you wear your hair matters too. If you tie it up most days, the joins near your hairline and the nape need to sit where they will not show. If you wear it down and straight, flat joins matter more than anything.

Nano rings: the smallest join, for fine hair
A nano ring is a tiny metal bead. A few strands of your own hair are threaded through it with a strand of Remy hair, and the bead is pressed closed. There is no heat at any stage and no glue.
Because each bead holds so little, the join sits flat against the head and is easy to hide in fine hair. The trade-off is time: a full head takes a few hours, because there are a lot of small joins to place.
Nano rings move like your own hair rather than sitting as a block, and the same strands can be moved up and reused at maintenance appointments. Read more about nano ring hair extensions and how Jaz fits them.

Micro rings: more hold for thicker hair
Micro rings work the same way with a slightly larger bead, so each one holds more of your own hair and more extension hair with it. That makes them a durable, tried-and-tested choice for medium to thick hair.
Fewer, larger joins mean a full head goes in faster than with nano rings. On fine hair, though, a micro bead can be too much weight for the section it is attached to, which is the main reason the two are not interchangeable.
Like nano rings, micro ring extensions are built to be reused: at a maintenance appointment the beads come down, your own hair is tidied up and the same strands go back in at the root.

Tape-in: flat wefts and a shorter fitting
Tape-in extensions are flat panels of hair, called wefts, with a thin adhesive strip along the top. A section of your own hair is sandwiched between two wefts, and the panel lies flat against the head.
Because each panel covers a wider section than a single bead, tape-ins are the quickest of the three to fit and the quickest to take out. They suit hair strong enough to hold a panel, and they are a good fit when you want volume in a shorter appointment.
Coming out is done with a remover that releases the adhesive, so the weft comes away and your own hair does not. Where the panels go is planned around your parting and how you wear your hair. See tape-in hair extensions for how a fitting runs.

How the decision is actually made
At the consultation Jaz looks at your hair in person: how fine it is at the root, how much there is, what it has been through and how you wear it. Then she says which method she would fit and why.
It can be a different answer from the one you came in with. Someone set on tape-in may be told their hair would do better with nano rings, or the other way round. The point is a fitting you forget you are wearing, not a method on a booking form.
Colour and length are matched at the same time, before any hair is ordered, so the finished result blends with your own.
Questions readers ask
Can I change method later?
Yes. Extensions come out at a removal appointment, and a different method can be fitted at a later appointment if your hair suits it. Jaz will say at the consultation whether a change makes sense for you.
Do all three use the same hair?
Yes. Flawless uses natural Remy hair for every method, matched to your own colour and length at the consultation.
Which method is least likely to show?
In fine hair, nano rings, because each bead is small and sits flat. In thicker hair, micro rings and tape-in both hide well. Placement matters as much as the method, which is why it is planned around how you wear your hair.
Your next step
If you are weighing up methods, the quickest way to an answer is to describe your own hair. Send Jaz a few lines through the form on this page: how fine or thick your hair is, the length you are after and whether you have worn extensions before. She will call you back to arrange a consultation in Wolverhampton.
